ABSTRACT

To date, no approaches have been reported to fabricate the tungsten oxide (WO3) nanorod arrays on tungsten (W) foil substrate in corrosive media. In this method, tungsten foil was applied as substrates. The WO3 nanorod arrays on tungsten foil substrate were prepared via electrochemical method without using templates and catalysts. The anodization was carried  out at 30 V for different durations at 80 °C for 1 to 4 h anodization times in electrolyte solution. Finally, as-prepared samples were heat treated at 450 deg for 30 min. After etching, the surface morphologies and the nanorods structure of the WO3 were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). XRD pattern confirmed that the as-prepared samples are the hexagonal phase WO3 nanorod were of polycrystalline structure.
