ABSTRACT

The substitution of Mg with Cu to produce Mg0.98Cu0.02O and Mg0.96Cu0.04O are done to investigate the effect of Cu substitution on the characteristics of the modified MgO. The samples are synthesized using a combustion method. The samples obtained are annealed at 900 ºC for 24 hours. The phase and purity of samples are studied using X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and it revealed that the samples are pure and of cubic crystal structure. The morphology and crystallites size of the samples are examined by a field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), the JEOL JSM-7600F. Results showed that the crystallite size of samples increases after Cu substitution.
